On Tuesday, August 2, 2022, the Ghana film industry was shocked to hear of the death of legendary actor Prince Yawson, also known as Waakye.
Waakye is alleged to have died between 1:00 and 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon after being transported to the 37 Military Hospital the night before.
Grace Omaboe, popularly known as Maame Dokono, is the most recent celebrity to respond to the tragic news.
Waakye was rushed to Ridge Hospital, but owing to a lack of hospital beds, he was transferred to the 37 Military Hospital, according to her.
“At the 37 Military Hospital, they also had no hospital beds so he was attended to on a stretcher. Before they got back with equipment to attend to him, he gave up the ghost,” she cried.
Maame Dokono also reported that they all went to a colleague’s 70th birthday party a week ago, and he appeared to be in good health.
She went on to say that he will be much missed, and that his departure will be felt by both the old and the young due to his popularity in the country.
“We will miss him because he does everything for us. We have indeed lost a great person,” she said.
Fans of the veteran actor also expressed their sadness after hearing the news.
