Hundreds lose their properties as Kantamanto market get burnt to ashes
A massive fire outbreak has destroyed over 100 shops at the Kantamanto Market in Accra early this morning, 2nd January 2025. The fire reported started around 1:00 am at dawn and this has left a lot of shop owners devasted as their shops are being burnt to the ground.
The Ghana National Fire Service reported that they dispatched 13 fire trucks across Accra to combat the early morning blaze. Despite the efforts made by the Ghana Fire Service to get the situation under control, it is reported that hundreds of shops are blazed into ashes.
Speaking to the media some of the people present made claims that the Ghana Fire Service came with petrol instead of water to increase the damage as they believe the situation escalated upon the arrival of the GFS at the Kantamanto market.
As some made appeals to the government to come to their aid, others also made some wild accusations about being suspicious of some people being responsible for the fire outbreaks.
