Gyimah Kutin, a taxi driver from Ghana, was assassinated by a group of unidentified individuals after they rode in his car.
On Saturday, August 13, 2022, when the tragic occurrence occurred, the 52-year-old guy reportedly dropped off five passengers at Beach 54th Street and Arverne Boulevard in the Rockaways.
After they had finished their voyage, Gyimah is alleged to have pursued the passengers who had refused to pay the ticket.
Three males and two ladies who made up the suspects turned on him and began to attack him one by one. They stole from him after that and left the area.
According to online sources, the New York Federation of Taxi Drivers, which has offered a $15,000 prize for information leading to the arrest of the culprits, and the Ghanaian community in New York were both outraged by the news of his murder.
Gyimah’s wife, Abigail Bawuah, has said that she is deeply saddened by her husband’s passing.
“He was a good, good man. He was my backbone. I’m lost right now. My children’s hero,” Bawuah, who could not hold back her tears, said.
Kutin was survived by his wife and four kids aged between 3 and 8.
