GES Notifies SHS Students of Additional School Holidays

According to a statement from the Ghana Education Service (GES), there will be an extended break starting from Friday, 28th March, to Tuesday, 1st April, 2025, for Muslim students in SHS.

This arrangement is to enable them to travel home and observe the festival with their families and loved ones. The students are expected to return to school on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, to resume academic activities.

GES Announces More School Holidays for SHS Students

The announcement was made in an official letter signed by Professor Smile Dzisi (Mrs.), the acting deputy director-general for management services at GES, on behalf of the acting director-general.

The letter was addressed to all regional directors of education, instructing them to ensure that all senior high schools are informed about the holiday schedule.

This move by GES is aimed at allowing Muslim students to fully participate in the Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations, which are a significant part of the Islamic calendar. Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, a holy month of fasting observed by Muslims worldwide. The festival is usually celebrated with prayers, feasting, and time spent with family.

GES Notifies SHS Students of Additional School Holidays

Parents and guardians of Muslim students are encouraged to make the necessary arrangements to welcome their children home for the holidays. Meanwhile, school authorities are expected to ensure that the students return to school on the scheduled date to continue with their studies without any disruption.

The Ghana Education Service has assured that this break will not affect the academic calendar, and all SHS students will be given the needed support to stay on track with their studies.
