Residents of Osino raise concerns as Galamseyers are seen working actively with excavators in town
There have been calls from concerned Ghanaians over the years about how minerals are being mined in the country. For some years now, illegal mining (Galamsey) has been an incurable disease among Ghanaians.
Despite complaints and demonstrations against the practice of illegal mining, it rather seems to be growing from strength to strength as some illegal miners (galamseyers) are hellbent on extracting minerals by any means possible.
Some illegal miners (Galamseyers) have moved from the bush, bringing their excavators to homes in Osino, in the Fanteakwa South District of the Eastern Region, where they are now actively digging for gold, according to an individual who shared the situation in a video.
Some Ghanaians who chanced on this video are calling on the security services in the Eastern Region to act without hesitation as they consider the act unlawful and life-threatening.
