FA Cup: Liverpool beat Chelsea 6-5 on penalties as their amazing season continues

Liverpool on course for the quadruple after beating Chelsea to win the FA Cup

Liverpool Football Club took on Chelsea Football Club in the FA Cup final on Saturday, 14th May 2022 at the Wembley stadium as the two teams looked set to battle it out for who wins the FA Cup.

Liverpool started with Alisson, Trent, Van Dijk, Konate, Robertson, Thiago, Keita, Henderson, Salah, Diaz and Mane while Chelsea also paraded the likes of Mendy, James, Rudiger, Chalobah, Silva, Alonso, Jorginho, Kovacic, Mount, Pulisic and Lukaku.

Egyptian Talisman Mo Salah walked off injured on the 33rd minute as he was replaced by Diogo Jota. After hitting the post twice in 90 minutes, Liverpool kept coming at Chelsea as they searched for the equaliser.

Virgil Van Dijk was also replaced by Joel Matip during the extra time due to injury. After 120 minutes of football action, the two teams settled on penalty shootouts to decide the winner.

Azpilicueta and Mount missed their kicks for Chelsea whereas Sadio Mane also missed out on the chance of getting the winner for the Reds.

After Alisson saved Mount’s penalty, the Greek Scouser Kostas Tsimikas finished beautifully to win the Reds their 8th FA Cup trophy. Liverpool are on course to win the quadruple after winning the EFL Cup and FA Cup with the Premier League and Champions league trophies all up for grabs.
