Ghanaian actress Portia Asare Boateng has revealed the struggles she had to incur before shooting her new movie title Mary Magdalene.
In an interview with Franky5 on ‘This is Gospel’ show, Portia disclosed she arrived in Ghana from Canada to shoot the movie having only 100 Canadian Dollars.
‘…I got to Ghana with only 100 Canadian dollars in my purse. As an actress all I had in my purse to shoot that movie was 100 Canadian dollars…’ she said
She revealed on the Christian oriented program that she was able to produce and shoot her movie through God’s blessings favor. She also revealed she’s never been nominated for the movies she acted awards
I sat with my pastor and we prayed, he encouraged me and by faith he told me to set a date for the shoot.
‘…I don’t know how I was able to shoot Mary Magdalene but by the Grace of God I was able to shoot the movie and pay for everybody…’
Responding to the recent issues surrounding sex for roles in the movie industry,Portia Asare Boateng revealed that contrary to what the majority are saying, she has never been asked to have sex to acquire a movie role. She stated that this was not a common act during her time.
…Back in the day we were very serious and we meant business. If you want a role you would have to audition. But now nobody goes to audition. All they do is wear makeup with their sexy bodies, pimp their breasts and think they can lure any movie director for a role….
She however expressed her disappointment in the current trend happening in the movie industry and advised young actresses to desist from nudity.
