Manchester United suffered their worst possible start to their Champions League campaign despite Cristiano Ronaldo scoring after a disastrous late pass-back gifted Young Boys a 2-1 victory over the 10-man Red Devils.

Victor Lindelof was once again included in the starting eleven in place of Raphael Varane, Donny Van de Beek on the other was given a rare start in central midfield. This shifted Paul Pogba to the left wing with Mason Greenwood also making way for Jadon Sancho to switch to the right.

Their victory over Newcastle at the weekend was a good start of a new Man Utd, Cristiano Ronaldo scored two goals that day on his return to the Club. It took Cristiano Ronaldo some time in making his mark in the Champions League.

The Man Utd legend latched on to Bruno Fernandes’ wonderful through ball before side-footing the ball between the goalkeeper’s legs.

Young Boys here didn’t seem to panic over their expensively-assembled opponents (Man Utd). They were handed a major lifeline in the first 35th minute.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka somehow caused Man Utd their defeat yesterday. The right-back caught the opposition above the ankle and saw a straight red to reduce Man Utd to ten men.

Young Boys got their equalizer after the break when Moumi Ngamaleu nipped in ahead of Raphael Varane at the near post before prodding past David de Gea.

Manchester United’s head coach, Solskjaer quickly realized that he needed some fresh legs and made some changes. Solskjear’s hoped of fresh legs to help repel attack after attack. De Gea made some wonderful stop with two minutes to go, but with the work seemingly done, an errant Jesse Lingard back-pass gifted Young Boys a last-minute winner.
