The respected broadcast journalist Bridget Otoo has made her vote in the general elections scheduled for December 7th clear.
Bridget Otoo has stated unequivocally that her backing for former President John Dramani Mahama is contingent upon the former leader refusing to debate Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Recently, a video of the vice president speaking at an NPP rally and brashly calling for a discussion with the former president went viral on the internet.
In the video, Dr. Bawumia criticized the opposition National Democratic Party’s well-liked 24-hour economy program and swore that if President Mahama was brave enough to confront him, he would make sure that the campaign pledges were kept.
However, Bridget Otoo voiced her dissatisfaction with giving Dr. Bawumia the platform and publicity that a discussion with Mahama would afford in a tweet shared on X (previously Twitter) on July 11, 2024.
The Metro TV news anchor emphatically stated, “I will vote against John Mahama if he debates Bawumia! We are not giving a platform to that chronic, unrepentant, untruthful person.”
Bridget Otoo further elaborated on her position, suggesting that the NPP should organize debates featuring their candidate and other parties’ flagbearers, explicitly excluding the National Democratic Congress (NDC). “They can organize a debate for other candidates with him!” – She urged.
“Nana Addo stayed away from debates and he did just fine!!!” she noted, emphasizing her belief that debates are not essential for electoral success.
