Akufo Addo travels to Brussels and Kigali while handing Ghana’s administration to Bawumia

On Sunday, Akufo Addo left Ghana for Brussels, Belgium, to attend the European Development Days Forum and the Commonwealth of Nations Heads of Government Meeting in Kigali, Rwanda.

One of 11 leaders speaking at European Development Days is President Akufo Addo. The event is hosted by the European Commission in order to inspire new alliances and innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing issues.

The 15th EDD focuses on “Global Gateway: Building Sustainable Partnerships for a Connected World.” Global Gateway is the new European Strategy to increase smart, clean, and secure digital, energy, and transport linkages and strengthen global health, education, and research networks.

President Akufo-Addo will attend the 2022 Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting on June 22. (CHOGM).

Commonwealth leaders are visiting Rwanda to reaffirm their ideals and agree on measures and policies to better their populations’ lives.

The President is also slated to visit the Kigali mRNA vaccine factory groundbreaking. BioNTech is building modular “turnkey” mRNA vaccination facilities in Rwanda and Senegal, with fill-and-finish in Ghana.

Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey, the foreign minister, and other officials joined him. In President Akufo-absence, Addo’s Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will act.
