Black Stars walloped 4-1 by The Samurais of Japan

Black Stars of Ghana starts Kirin tournament with a 4-1 defeat to Japan

The black stars of Ghana opened their Kirin Cup tournament with a disgraceful 4-1 lost to Japan.

The 4 Nations tournament was seen as a preparatory tournament for the Stars as they prepare for the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

Ghana went to the tournament with a depleted squad. Ghana took on Madagascar and Central African Republic in an AFCON qualifier before leaving for Japan.

Coach Otto Addo went into the match with players like Ati Zigi, Andy Yiadom, Alidu Seidu, Daniel Amartey, Dennis Korsah, Edmond Addo, Christopher Antwi-Adjei, Mohammed Kudus, Andre Ayew and his brother Jordan Ayew.

The Japanese started the match on a high intensity as they pressed the stars to their own half. After series of saves from goalkeeper Lawrence Ati Zigi, the Samurais finally had their breakthrough.

The Stars pulled on back through Jordan Ayew but that was not enough as Ghana lost 4-1 to Japan.

Ghana will play Chile for the third place position.
