Court Charges Honorable Mark Okraku Mantey For Secretly Conveying Thugs In His Private Vehicle.

The Adentan Circuit Court presided by Her Lordship Sedinam Balokah has charged a top Government appointee Honorable Mark Okraku Mantey.

The Deputy Minister of Tourism, arts and culture, Honorable Mark Okraku Mantey has been charged for Secretly Conveying Thugs in his private vehicle to allegedly perform vigilante activities contrary to Section 7(1a) and (2) of the laws against vigilantism.

Mark Okraku Mantey has also been charged with invasion of privacy alongside causing harm to innocent civilians. According to the reports, Mark has since pleaded not guilty to the offences and has acquired the services of Lawyer Sampson Lardi Anyenini who doubles as a journalist to intervene on his behalf in court.

According to the prosecution led by Patience Mano, the Deputy minister allegedly conveyed the Thugs to attack the labourers of one Alhaji Baba Tony at Oyarifa in Accra. The complainant ( Alhaji Baba Tony) explained that, the Deputy minister attacked his workers and destroyed an ongoing building project estimated at GH 63,700.

As if that wasn’t enough, the Deputy minister brought the same thugs on the 3rd, 9th, and 10th April 2021 to strike them again. Some of the labourers even sustained injuries and got admitted.

The issue bothering the Deputy Minister was a dispute about the land which Alhaji Baba Tony was developing. The Adentan Circuit Court has pegged 18th January 2022 to commence hearing as they have finished with conference and case management.

If found guilty, the Deputy minister could be jailed, fined or both. Vigilantism has been barred in Ghana following the cruel activities of land guards and fake property guards.
