Ghanaian actress and social media influencer, Rosemond Brown who is known as Akuapem Poloo has filed a notice of appeal at the Court of Appeal through her lawyers.

Akuapem Poloo has gone through a lot this year, she was arrested and put into cells for posting a photo of herself with his only son. Now the picture wasn’t the problem but posing n@ked in front of the child brought all these issues.

She was taken to court where the judge sentenced her to prison for 90 days, Akuapem Poloo and her lawyers filed an appeal to challenge the judgement but their appeal was thrown out by the court and she is now forced to serve her 90 days jail terms.

Now Akuapem Poloo is once again challenging the dismissal of her appeal by the High Court with regard to her 90–day jail term for posting a nude picture of herself and her son on social media.

Akuapem Poloo’s lead lawyer, Andrew Kudzo Vortia has filed a long notice of appeal on Monday, December 6, 2021, to the court.

The notice said: “Please take note that the convict/appellant/appellant herein, being aggrieved by the judgement of the High Court Criminal Division (1)Accra, Her Ladyship Ruby Aryeetey dated 1 December 2021 dismissing the appellant appeal against the conviction and sentenced to 90 days imprisonment imposed on the appellant on each count to run concurrently by Her Honour Mrs Christiana Cann dated April 16, 2021, hereby appeals to the court of appeal on the grounds set out below and for the release stated hereunder”.
That the learned judge erred in failing to appreciate that as a young first offender and a single parent, a noncustodial sentence of a fine instead of a custodial sentence of 90days imposed on the appellant by the trial court is appropriate in this case. That the custodial sentence of 90 days imposed on the appellant be set aside and in lieu, be substituted with a non-custodial sentence or a fine,” it stated.

Akuapem Poloo’s lawyers have also made an application for bail for her pending the determination of the case.

Remember that the Accra High Court on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, ordered Akuapem Poloo to go back and complete her 90-day jail term at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison. The order was made by the court after her appeal to overturn her 90 days jail terms were dismissed.
