Joana Krah, the woman who is facing a court in Takoradi for faking her abduction will be sentenced today, Tuesday, October 26.
Joana Krah, the 29-year-old woman has confessed to faking her kidnapping on Friday, October 22, 2021, in a bid to extort GH¢5,000 from a relative. This year alone we have recorded two fake kidnapped cases in Takoradi and many are wondering what at all these individuals involved in this case seek to gain.
Now Joana on Monday appeared before the Takoradi Habour Circuit Court presided over by His Honour Michael Kwodjoe Ampoadu for deceiving a public officer and publication of fake news.
The earlier police statement indicated that suspect Joana Krah conspired with other two suspects–Susan Awortwe and Francis Eshun– to fake her kidnapping, the other two were not brought to court as reported by Citi FM.
Joana Krah according to the police conspired with the two others to feign her kidnapping, after which a call was placed to her godfather in demand for the ransom.
As soon as Joana got to know that her godfather had reported to the Police and an extensive search had commenced to find her, she quickly showed up at the Takoradi Central Police Station on Saturday, October 23, to confess what she planned to do.
Joana claimed she was only joking with her godfather with claims that she had been kidnapped. The Police investigations led to the arrest of suspects, Susan Awortwe and Francis Eshun for their complicity or contribution.
Both suspects have been admitted to bail, according to a Citi FM report.
Takoradi was in the news after a pregnant woman also went missing under similar circumstances. Josephine Panyin Mensah is also facing court for similar offences after police investigations suggested her alleged abduction was a hoax.
