Nana Akufo-Addo said it when he was addressing a mini-durbar at Assin-Bereku in the Assin North District of the Central Region, where he is on an official working visit.

The President of Ghana has made it part of his administration to tour the regions every year to engage with the people, to have first-hand information about what their real needs are, and to tell them what his government is doing to change things – speed up socio-economic development.

President Akufo-Addo said his signature policies and interventions were making a difference in the lives of many a Ghanaian.

The evidence, he added, was there for everybody to see. He said it was comforting that many of the people fully understood and were pleased with the performance of the government.

President Nana Akufo-Addo had earlier inspected construction works on the 31- kilometer (km) Assin-Praso – Assin-Fosu road. The US$50 million projects is part of the rehabilitation of the national trunk roads. It is being funded with a grant from the government of Japan.

As part of the work, a four-lane dual carriageway would be constructed in the Assin-Fosu town. A railway underpass bridge is also going to be re-constructed. President Akufo-Addo announced that all road contractors who had abandoned work on roads they were working on were going to return to those roads.

Fixing the bad roads has been made a top priority on the government’s development agenda. The poor road infrastructure has not been helpful to the promotion of businesses, to grow the country’s economy.

President Akufo-Addo used the visit to say thank you to the chiefs and people in the region for their strong support. The chiefs in the area appealed to the President to ensure that all uncompleted structures in senior high schools were completed.

They also asked that the senior high schools be provided with buses.
