CK Akonnor Gives Reasons Why Ghana Lost To South Africa In World Cup Qualifiers

Ghanaians weren’t happy with the last performance Ghana Black Stars put up against South Africa, many think this team isn’t fit to go to the world Cup in Qatar.

The head coach of the Black Stars, Charles Kwablan Akonnor has given some reasons why his side’s lost painfully to South Africa in the second matchday of the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Monday afternoon.

This current Black Star team suffered on the pitch as they pick up their first defeat to South Africa in the Group G of the World Cup qualifiers, this match was played at the FNB Stadium.

South Africa got their goal after making a profitable change in the second half which saw them score in the 83rd-minute, the goal was scored by Bongokuhle Hlongwane. Now the Bafana Bafana has moved to the top in Group G of the African World Cup qualifiers.

Ck Akonnor in an interview after the game made it know that the team’s second-half performance cost them a 1-0 defeat to South Africa

“Well, we started very well in the first half tactically we were very disciplined. It went the way we want it and we were not clinical upfront, that’s the problem. But I was satisfied with the way we played in terms of controlling the game.”

Akonnor told reporters in South Africa after the game

“In the second half, we somehow lost the midfield in terms of how we want to play because we believed that we could win the game.”

“We did one or two substitutions, which really went the other way round and we kept dropping and dropping.”

As it stands now Ghana is now on the second spot of the table with three points. following. The Black Stars will face Zimbabwe in a double-header 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers
