A state-owned university in Nigeria has instructed students to now wear uniforms.

Students of the Niger Delta University, Wilberforce Island, Amassoma in the south-south part of Nigeria have been directed to secure and start wearing uniforms while on campus.

This directive was given by Professor Samuel G. Edoumiekumo who is the vice-chancellor of Niger Delta University, Amassoma, Bayelsa State. This means the student will now wear prescribed uniforms instead of their own choice of clothes.

Reports indicate that students will buy the uniforms at a cost between N20,000 and N30,000.

As some students seem not to accept this information, they have described this directive as exploitative as they consider the economy.
